NATIONAL A-TEAAM YOUTH LEADERSHIP SUMMIT

Celebrating the 5th Year of the A-TEAAM and the 55th year celebration of Medgar Evers

In 2018, the A-TEAAM celebrated its 5th Year Anniversary with an A-TEAAM National Youth Leadership Summit held June 8-10, 2018 in Jackson, MS.  Ambassadors, parents and mentors converged in Jackson to engage in youth-led sessions and to tour the home/Museum of Medgar and Myrlie Evers and to tour the new Mississippi Civil Rights Museum.  This Summit also celebrated the life and legacy of Medgar Evers and commemorated the 55th Anniversary of his assassination.  Further, during the Summit, the 2nd edition of I!CAN Imagine: Voices of Young Authors was unveiled.  The first edition of I!CAN Imagine was released in April, 2016 with 48 Ambassadors penning essays for inclusion in this hard-bound book.  The 2nd Edition contains more than 100 Ambassadors from all over the country who contributed essays and lessons learned from their experiences in the program. The A-TEAAM inspires young males to write their own narratives, overcome inevitable challenges and become their best possible selves.

"Words cannot express how wonderful, how awesome, electrifying, and heart warming this past weekend was. You and your team are to be highly commended for allowing us to be a part of such an experience. What I like most about your planning is that it was ALL about the Ambassadors, our young black males. Our Ambassadors could not not stop talking about the time they experienced while attending the Summit. Thanks you for the opportunity to serve as an Advisor, I will not disappoint you."
